MAKEUP LOOK: Thick, Winged Eyeliner

Perfecting a wing can often be intimidating, considering each eye can potentionaly end up looking entirely different to the one you’ve just spent a good 10 minutes on. I occasionally still have those days however, I have noticed that when I’m in a 10 minute-makeup rush I find myself doing either a faint or thick line of eyeliner.

It’s a simple yet quick way to give shape to the eyes without having to add eyeshadows to bring definition.

This is how I do my go-to wing!

The sun was literally shining on me when we took these photos, please excuse the shadows on my makeup that day.

I had just ran out of my NYX Matte Liquid Eyeliner, so I instead went for a Black cream Eyeshadow. Gel eyeliners are optional, but I just went with what I had in my makeup bag. I then took a flat angled synthetic brush and made a line on my lids, literally following the extension of my eye.

  • It’s often likely that using a black cream eyeshadow will not give you an opaque finish, this means that if you mess it up you can quickly remove your mistake with ease without getting it messy.

Once I had the shape I wanted (I made my liner quite thick) I then took a wipe and cleaned off excess product from the same angled brush and dipped it into a black eyeshadow.

  •  Now following the same direction as if you’re lining your eyes again, you set the cream with the black shadow.

This may sound a little tricky but I swear this method has made my liner process a lot easier. Using eyeshadow to define eyeliner helps it blend into the style of your makeup nicely. The intensity of black eyeshadow automatically makes an impact whilst looking effortless.

I finished off with a generous coat of mascara and made my liner stand out by powdering right underneath the liner with a pale shadow.

  • SKIN: Without being too heavy, I complimented the eyes by simply bringing back dimension to the face and covering where needed.

  • LIPS: Since the eyes were already quite bold, I opted for a neutral looking beige tone. I like to use a traditional lipstick and blend it in to form a stain, I then go in with a bit of concealer on my ring finger and dab the product on top of my lips to give me the perfect nude shade.

  •  What’s the best method you’ve found to do your eyeliner/eyeshadow?
  • Have you tried this technique before and/or if not, will you be giving this a go?

Let me know what you think in the comments!

I hope this look adds a little inspo to your looks this summer, the thick liner look is one of my top favourites to re-create when I feel like mimicking a feline shape to my eyes.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this post n_n

MY PAMPER ROUTINE

Sometimes it gets hard to find time to kick back and relax with busy schedules paired with the ‘no rest’ mindset. I’ve always been the person to create tonnes of lists and reminders to get things done, that I actually end up forgetting to take care of myself. For me, I think Sundays are one of the best days to unwind in order to take on the new week in perhaps a better mood.

They’re so many different pamper routines to choose from however by recording what I often do to relax, I’ve come up with 5 simple things you can do to unwind on your Sunday (or any day depending on what day works best for you)

1. Face masks

Using A face mask is probably my personal favourite way to relax. Aside from the endless benefits, any simple mask can give your skin, It’s a great multi-tasking product as you can either relax in a meditative state or work on other activities (which I’m about to tell you).

2. Reading

As a kid, I used to hate reading, but over time my philosophy on it changed for the better. As I’m homeschooled, reading plays a big part in my life. I think it’s a different feeling when you’re taking time out to read out of interest as opposed to reading for school or work. It’ll always benefit you regardless but for me, it’s one of the best ways I know to help one feel calmer and relaxed.

3. Tea!

I can’t speak for anyone else but I can assure you I drink plenty of tea, even when it’s not intended to relax. A Sunday afternoon cup of tea is something anyone can make easily, and with so many flavours of tea, now available to choose from a cup of tea is always a good way to relax. Tea also has nutritional and beauty benefits which are an added bonus.

4. Meditation

This is like a workout, but for your mind and without the subtle pains days later. It’s as simple as sitting in a quiet room, closing your eyes and concentrating on your breathing, that’s it. Meditation is something so straightforward yet heavily effective, on not only your body but leaving your mentality in a more peaceful state of mind.

Doing this for at least 5-10 minutes (when you wake up in the morning and/or before you go to bed) is all you need to notice a difference in the overall outlook of yourself when done consistently that is. Another great thing that I love about it is that It can be done at any time of the day. If I have five minutes to spare and I want time to calm my mind, I’ll simply meditate.

5. Inspiration

It’s easy to be uninspired and not feel much motivation to get things done. However, one thing I often do to feel more enthusiastic is to look at the things that put a smile on my face. This could be anything from coffee table books (my personal fave) to going on walks or even watching my favourite film. There will always be something that’ll put you in a better mood even when you don’t feel like yourself on some days.

I’m not saying you have to use these suggestions in particular in order have a good pick-me-up routine, these are just things I’ve noticed I’ve been doing more of to unwind on my Sundays, so I thought I’d share with good intentions. Happy Sunday! Enjoy your Day!

THE PERFECT RED LIP

I’ve never really been the type of girl to wear red lipstick as I feel many red lipsticks out on the market have different undertones, so finding the right shade can be tricky. It’s also important to note that the ‘Red Lip’ is known to be worn as a bold, statement Lip colour to vamp up almost any makeup look however it’s different for all skin tones.

I thought I could never pull it off until I came across one lipstick that came in a ‘liquid’ lipstick form, the shade was not like most I’ve seen where the undertone is either blue or slightly orange. This shade suited everyone! On top of that, I hadn’t come across any negative reviews on this particular product.

It’s from the makeup brand, Coloured Raine and the lip colour is in the name ‘Cherry Blossom. It’s perfect, I absolutely love it and I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good, red lipstick.

As well as Their high-demand liquid lipsticks, Coloured Raine also stock lip glosses as well as eyeshadows (which I haven’t tried yet). They’re based in America therefore initially I didn’t really bother to look any further, up until one morning I noticed that Beauty Bay (a UK online beauty department store) were now including Coloured Raine.

I was super excited when I made my purchase and thrilled when I received the item. Here are three key things I absolutely love about this product:

  • The Smooth application
  • The highly pigmented colour payoff
  • The Non-drying formula on the lips

With that being said I will be trying out more shades in the near future!

The Coloured Raine liquid lipstick in Cherry Blossom retails for £15 on Beauty Bay (where I purchased mine).
