SPRING MAKEUP LOOK: GREEN EYESHADOW INSPO 💚

I’m well aware that green eyeshadow isn’t always the first choice when it comes to smokey eyes (especially in Spring) – however, I wanted to break the ice of its reputation and present in this post that green eyeshadow is definitely an eyeshadow to look out for this season. Think bright pale (the 60s) green, the variety of green leaves inspired by the blossomed flowers and trees in the spring. Although many would consider earthy tones to be brown for smokey eyes, I think green is ultimately just as versatile and suitable for all eye colours and skin tones in this category. Like all eyeshadow colours, it’s about how you apply and wear the shadow that makes all the difference in elevating your look.

The Palette I used for this look is in collaboration with Makeup Artist, CarmiMua and Makeup Revolution known as the Kiss of Fire Palette. I haven’t used the palette enough to report my full review on it although I will say that the main eyeshadow I used in this post, dominion, actually looked blue in the pan rather than green. When it comes to eyeshadows like these it’s good to note that whichever colourful eyeshadow you use will look different on every skin-tone – which is why I’ve scouted my top 7 alternative green eyeshadows you can check out by clicking here.

For this editorial, I wanted to be quite bold whilst keeping the look modern and wearable!
Creating the eye look was quite simple:

The main focus is pink eyeshadow on the lids, applied in a rounded, 60s mod shape and blended well around the edges. I complimented the pink with navy blue eyeshadow (as eyeliner). You may not be able to notice on camera, but the eye liner is actually navy blue as opposed to black.

Started off with a base on the eyes in a similar tone as the eyeshadow I planned on using: A pink eye primer/colour corrector (a tiny bit of it only on the lids) will not only help ensure staying power as you add liner but should make a difference in the opacity of your eyeshadow. Any eye base that works for you is perfect for this step.

I focused on two main shadows from the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette to give a hot-pink metallic effect: “Seize” and “Gossip”. There are so many different metallic/shimmery pink eyeshadows to choose from, these two were the closest to what I was going for.

For the liner, I applied a wet black eyeshadow and went over it with “Minx” to form a navy blue shade. I kinda just wanted some extreme contrast on the eyes so instead of using black I thought navy blue would make things pop.

There will be a post dedicated to my foundation routine but for now, I just made sure the skin was kept simple and mellow.

Definitely was experimenting with this look, but I think it just adds a vibrant element of fun to any simple outfit.

Let me know what you think and if you have or would go this bold with eyeshadow?

Go-To Eye Look: Summery Shimmer

Lately, I’ve been simplifying my makeup looks when It comes to eyeshadow. I’ve only been using two main products to form one of my favourite beachy looks which is a nice blend of gold lids! Not much of a true gold but more copper-bronzed and suited to my skin tone.

These two products are all I use. I have extremely oily eye lids and ever since last winter I’ve been using a thin layer of NYX’s Waterproof Eyebrow Gel to prime them and never looked back. A little product goes a long way and out of all primers I’ve used to keep my eyeshadow in place, this has worked like a charm!

I used one eyeshadow, “Tiger’s Eye” from Too Faced’s Cat Eyes Palette all over the lids. I started off by buffing this colour on with a flat-shader brush to get a good shape, I then patted a little more product towards the centre of my lids to add dimension.

Finished the look with a good coat of mascara to really let that bronze hue shine through and added the same eyeshadow underneath the crease of my eyes (slightly) to balance things out.

This look complements all eye colours and every skin tone, it just depends on which shade of gold suits you best.

I was really inspired by Serena Van Der Woodson’s (from Gossip Girl ^-^)  bronzey lids that she used to always rock during her summer days! These eyes can go with just about any lip colour/outfit, effortless yet enhancing.

Let me know in the comments what you think.

I’m interested to know if you also have a quick summer makeup/skin routine and what that might conclude. Do you prefer on just enhancing a facial feature, focusing on the eyes, going lightweight on the skin or even creating a more flawless finish to your look? I’d love to know!

THE PERFECT RED LIP

I’ve never really been the type of girl to wear red lipstick as I feel many red lipsticks out on the market have different undertones, so finding the right shade can be tricky. It’s also important to note that the ‘Red Lip’ is known to be worn as a bold, statement Lip colour to vamp up almost any makeup look however it’s different for all skin tones.

I thought I could never pull it off until I came across one lipstick that came in a ‘liquid’ lipstick form, the shade was not like most I’ve seen where the undertone is either blue or slightly orange. This shade suited everyone! On top of that, I hadn’t come across any negative reviews on this particular product.

It’s from the makeup brand, Coloured Raine and the lip colour is in the name ‘Cherry Blossom. It’s perfect, I absolutely love it and I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good, red lipstick.

As well as Their high-demand liquid lipsticks, Coloured Raine also stock lip glosses as well as eyeshadows (which I haven’t tried yet). They’re based in America therefore initially I didn’t really bother to look any further, up until one morning I noticed that Beauty Bay (a UK online beauty department store) were now including Coloured Raine.

I was super excited when I made my purchase and thrilled when I received the item. Here are three key things I absolutely love about this product:

  • The Smooth application
  • The highly pigmented colour payoff
  • The Non-drying formula on the lips

With that being said I will be trying out more shades in the near future!

The Coloured Raine liquid lipstick in Cherry Blossom retails for £15 on Beauty Bay (where I purchased mine).

MAKEUP LOOK: Valentine’s Day

It’s Valentine’s Day next Tuesday, so I thought why not do a look inspired by the Red, Pink, Blush tones the day is well known for. For me, makeup looks to do with these hues in mind is perhaps one of my favourite types to create – not only on myself as I think this look complements everyone! I’m not saying I only do pink-toned makeup for V-Day, but for whenever I want to feel pretty in pink, this is a makeup look I’d generally go for.

Product Details:
Base- L’Oréal True Match Foundation in shade: 8.N. Cappuccino

Concealer- L.A. Girl Pro HD Concealer in shade: Beautiful Bronze

Cream Contour & Bronzer (2 in 1)- Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Shade: Chestnut

Under Eye Setting Powder- M.A.C. Studio Careblend Pressed Powder in Shade: Dark

Highlight (subtle)- Bare Minerals All Over Face Powder in shade: Warmth + MUA’s Single Eyeshadow in Bronze (for a more exaggerated glow)

Blush- I Used a subtle, dark rose, pink shade from a Nars palette in collaboration with Andy Warhol (Discontinued)
EYES:

Brows- NYX Eyebrow Gel in Shade: Espresso

Eye Base- I used a matte brown eyeliner on the inner and outer part of my eyelid (blended first, before I apply eyeshadow).

To set only the outer area while blending upwards for a ‘cat eye’ effect, I used an eyeshadow from the Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette in Panther (an intense dark brown/black shade).

Next, I covered my lid with a satin-finished blush from Sleek’s Blush Palette in Sugar, making sure the edges of the brown shadow was transitioned into the pink tones on the crease of my eyelid.

Adding pops of shimmer on the lids and high points of my eyes while keeping within the theme of pink, I took a flat dense eyeshadow brush and pressed it into MUA’s Single Eyeshadow in Bronze (even though the actual colour is a pearlescent pink shade).

Lastly for Eyeliner and Mascara:

Liner- Nyx Liquid Liner: Black

Mascara- Bourjois Queen of Attitude Mascara

Hope this makeup gives you a little-added inspo for any of your upcoming looks you create this Spring!

Lots of love,

Stacy xx
