MY FOUNDATION ROUTINE

Happy Monday!

Sometimes it’s hard to narrow down a simple yet effective face routine without including a lot of products. This lightweight, skin-like base is what I do whenever I need a long lasting yet enhancing makeup look for for the day ahead!

I love cutting time and using multitasking products that can work for different things, such as my all-time favourite Sleek Bronze Block (what I use for bronzer) the little bit of pink mixed in with the warm tones create a beautiful soft eyeshadow look! No need to reach for a palette. As well as Olay’s 2 in 1 primer that can double as a moisturizer, I have combination to oily skin and I’ve found that this works perfectly for me when on the go.

Products Used:

  1. *Olay 2 in 1 Firm and Lift Primer
  2. *L’Oréal True Match Foundation 8N Cappuccino
  3. *MAC Select Cover Up Concealer, NW45 – Applied and blended in the corners of my under-eyes (a little goes a long way)
  4. *RCMA No-Color PowderTo set the centre of my face
  5. *L’Oréal True Match Powder – Tapped lightly to brighten underneath my eyes, nose, and forehead
  6. *Sleek Bronze Block, Dark – To add warmth to the skin
  7. *E.L.F Baked Highlighter, Blush Gems – Applied a small amount on the tops of my cheekbones

Perfect amount of products for your makeup bag.

This routine takes me up to 30 minutes though it depends, sometimes I’ll replace my foundation with a bit of concealer or skip the highlighter and bronzer for a no makeup, makeup look.

But all in all, this concludes my current, full foundation routine!

I hope this look gives you a little simple inspo. It’s easy to end up using a bunch of products that more than likely do the same job, best to find what works for you 🙂

Makeup Look: A POP OF PINK

For this editorial, I wanted to be quite bold whilst keeping the look modern and wearable!
Creating the eye look was quite simple:

The main focus is pink eyeshadow on the lids, applied in a rounded, 60s mod shape and blended well around the edges. I complimented the pink with navy blue eyeshadow (as eyeliner). You may not be able to notice on camera, but the eye liner is actually navy blue as opposed to black.

Started off with a base on the eyes in a similar tone as the eyeshadow I planned on using: A pink eye primer/colour corrector (a tiny bit of it only on the lids) will not only help ensure staying power as you add liner but should make a difference in the opacity of your eyeshadow. Any eye base that works for you is perfect for this step.

I focused on two main shadows from the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette to give a hot-pink metallic effect: “Seize” and “Gossip”. There are so many different metallic/shimmery pink eyeshadows to choose from, these two were the closest to what I was going for.

For the liner, I applied a wet black eyeshadow and went over it with “Minx” to form a navy blue shade. I kinda just wanted some extreme contrast on the eyes so instead of using black I thought navy blue would make things pop.

There will be a post dedicated to my foundation routine but for now, I just made sure the skin was kept simple and mellow.

Definitely was experimenting with this look, but I think it just adds a vibrant element of fun to any simple outfit.

Let me know what you think and if you have or would go this bold with eyeshadow?

Go-To Eye Look: Summery Shimmer

Lately, I’ve been simplifying my makeup looks when It comes to eyeshadow. I’ve only been using two main products to form one of my favourite beachy looks which is a nice blend of gold lids! Not much of a true gold but more copper-bronzed and suited to my skin tone.

These two products are all I use. I have extremely oily eye lids and ever since last winter I’ve been using a thin layer of NYX’s Waterproof Eyebrow Gel to prime them and never looked back. A little product goes a long way and out of all primers I’ve used to keep my eyeshadow in place, this has worked like a charm!

I used one eyeshadow, “Tiger’s Eye” from Too Faced’s Cat Eyes Palette all over the lids. I started off by buffing this colour on with a flat-shader brush to get a good shape, I then patted a little more product towards the centre of my lids to add dimension.

Finished the look with a good coat of mascara to really let that bronze hue shine through and added the same eyeshadow underneath the crease of my eyes (slightly) to balance things out.

This look complements all eye colours and every skin tone, it just depends on which shade of gold suits you best.

I was really inspired by Serena Van Der Woodson’s (from Gossip Girl ^-^)  bronzey lids that she used to always rock during her summer days! These eyes can go with just about any lip colour/outfit, effortless yet enhancing.

Let me know in the comments what you think.

I’m interested to know if you also have a quick summer makeup/skin routine and what that might conclude. Do you prefer on just enhancing a facial feature, focusing on the eyes, going lightweight on the skin or even creating a more flawless finish to your look? I’d love to know!

MAKEUP LOOK: The Natural Glow

image

Lately, I’ve been sporting a more ‘natural’ look in preparation for summer just to enhance my facial features without full coverage makeup a touch of illuminator on the highest points of my cheeks and I’m good to go! I think during spring/summer months it’s always lovely to have a more light-weight feel to your makeup on the skin.

There are plenty of different no-makeup makeup styles, it’s really up to personal preference and how you want to customise your look to fit your look. It’s just about knowing what works best for you.

Here’s a product listing of what I use to achieve my version of the natural, radiant look.

SKIN:

for primer, I normally add a good layer of moisturiser, however, if I want a more boost of radiance to my skin I’ll mix in an illuminator.

I start with L.A. Girl’s Pro Concealer in the colour correcting shade to even out my skin tone. this makes the coverage process quicker as opposed to adding layers of foundation.

For coverage, I like to pinpoint my foundation on areas of my face that I feel needs a bit of it, using Stila’s Stay all day foundation.

for brightening under my eyes I dotted L.A. Girl’s HD Pro Concealer and buffed it upwards to give a seamless finish.

I set where needed with MAC’s MSF to help keep the glow throughout my skin. I do, sometimes add a highlight and contour powder to give back some dimension, though I recommend a hydrating facial spray to get rid of any powder residue.

lastly, on the skin, I highlighted with a cream illuminator. Any cream eyeshadow also works well, for more details on how I use a cream highlighter on my face makeup see my previous blog post.

EYES:

this step is very optional, but I like to add a liner to my eyes without winging them out to give the appearance of bigger eyes.

I then add coats of mascara to lift my eyelashes.

LIPS:

This may sound out of the norm, but I like to place a little bit of L.A. Girl’s Colour Corrector on the centre of my lips, cheeks and nose for an ‘awake’ appearance. I love this product since it is orange and pink would be more forward on my skin, plus it is intended to even out dark so it naturally evens out my cheeks whilst adding colour.

Hope this gives a bit of inspiration to your glow-on-the-go looks this summer!

Lots of love,

Stacy.
