So its been over a year since the first STUNNA Lip Paint by Fenty Beauty was released. Almost the entire makeup community way fittingly stunned to see that the Music and now Beauty Mogul, Rihanna had finally Launched a universal red lipstick.

“UNCENSORED” is the first out of the now eight collective STUNNA lip paints released by Fenty Beauty. This liquid lipstick is described as a standout, classic red formulated and fitted to suit all skin tones.

Here is my review of the Fenty Beauty STUNNA Lip Paint in “UNCENSORED.

“When life’s all about taking risks, wearing liquid lipstick shouldn’t be one of them. Enter Stunna Lip Paint: The love child of high-impact colour and low-maintenance longwear—now in a range of head-turning shades that’s got everyone’s name on them. Each shade was hand-picked by Rihanna and created to look incredible on everyone.

Equal parts class and sass, Stunna Lip Paint goes from zero to 100 in one stroke of its lip-defining precision wand, making it easier than ever to dress your entire pout in show-stopping, soft matte pigment. Its serious long-lasting hold is so weightless, if it weren’t for the non-stop compliments, you’d forget you were even wearing it. And if that weren’t enough—Stunna Lip Paint has no immediate feathering, staying kissably smooth. In other words, it behaves so you don’t have to.”

Ironically, even though the packaging is almost reminiscent of luxurious nail polish the actual texture of the product is surprisingly thin (like nail polish) in comparison to previous liquid lipsticks we’re used to. With that being said, A little goes a long way thanks to its extremely high opacity. It. Is. Pigmented! What makes it nicer is that because of this, it’ll last you a while – I mean, that’s unless you wear red lipstick every day of course.

The finish of this lipstick dries down to a plush matte. It’s not at all drying however it will give off the illusion of a complete matte result. And depending on how much you re-apply your lip-paint, you will experience a little transfer. Nonetheless, because a little does go a long way with this product, you’ll only need two swipes (maximum) to achieve a clean, bold red.

At first impression, I experienced a mini shock at how bright it was, only to realise it was the orange undertone it had. It’s good to note that under different lighting, this red changes in appearance but essentially it is red with orange undertones – of which I don’t mind.

In all honesty, this lipstick requires a lip liner for me. I like to alternate between a dark plum colour and a black (applied carefully, obviously) just to add definition against my skin tone. I do agree that it suits all skin tones, although in terms of wearing this completely alone – I’d recommend a lip liner at hand.

The colour itself is absolutely gorgeous as I now somewhat understand why FB chose their red in this colourway – It stands out (more than a red with blue undertones). ‘Uncensored’ was intentionally made to be fiery, sharp and bold.

So this doe-foot applicator was intricately made to make the application process easier to create your lip-shape with. But from my experience, I felt more comfortable putting the product on the back of my hand first (due to lots of product) then following with a lip brush to apply with perfect precision.

Ultimately, I feel like with lipsticks – it’s all about how much you think you need – which then influences your decision on how you apply it. for example:

On days when I want a full red lip, I follow the process mentioned before and then add more by applying the lipstick to the centre of my lips using the actual doe-foot applicator.

I’ve also noticed that since it is high in pigment, it’s allowed me complete control over how I wanted to wear it. As a lip-tint, a subtle red or a bold red – it is completely versatile in the application which I like.

Once this lipstick dries down, it’s not going anywhere, as in – it will take more than just a wipe (for example) to remove it. I love using a traditional cleansing balm or simply a bit of pure 100% extra virgin olive oil applied to the lips and removed with a wipe or washcloth as I remove my makeup thoroughly. This method also works best for when I’ve used this lipstick as blusher or eyeshadow. No irritation, no stains – but left with a clean finish.

This is following a normal day. It does fade, but still not as much as it could if that makes sense? It retreats to a suitable lip stain after eight hours – and will move around eventually. Nevertheless, it’s easy to re-apply so it’s not a major concern.

  1. Held in an Innovative and Luxurious Packaging! – Just looking at this makes you feel happy. I completely appreciate the fact that the product comes in a glass bottle, not only does that keep its quality in the container but it will always carry a snazzy vibe which is a plus.
  2. High in Pigmentation and Thoroughly Vibrant – To put it shortly, the definition of a bold red is definitely ‘Uncensored’.
  3. The Doe-foot Applicator Makes it Easy to Apply – Even though I do prefer a different application method. I must applaud FB for creating an application that can create quick and sharp lines – allowing you to create your lip shape as you wish.
  4. Versatile in Wear – as well as wearing this for lipstick, I also love ‘Uncensored’ as a rouge, eyeshadow and lip tint.
  5. Non-Drying Yet Completely Matte – I hadn’t come across such a perfect hybrid like this in a while. So I was ecstatic to know that this red was a matte red that functioned with ease.

1. Can transfer easily – I think it all depends on the amount of product you use that will determine how quickly/long it dries. If too much is applied, it will take longer to dry down. With this in mind, I like to blot with a tissue after application just to take off the excess layer and help it stay in place.

(Final Thoughts)

In terms of packaging, formula, texture and finish I do feel like this is one of the most versatile reds I’ve personally ever come across. And after developing an understanding of its undertone to suit my skin tone, I’ve come to the conclusion that this has become the most ‘perfect’ red so far.

What I also love about ‘Uncensored’ is that even if you’re not a red lipstick kind of person, but were interested in trying a red – there is a red lipstick perfectly designed for the beginner as well as for the all-time lover of red lipsticks, which I think is pretty remarkable.
