In this blog post, I’ll be reviewing a couple of products from Nip+Fab that I ordered not too long ago.
So it was after hitting pan on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Contour Refills, (that I used to set my makeup with) that I subconsciously went on a face powder/palette hunt and soon found myself on Superdrug checking out on a Contour Palette with a lovely looking variety of shades and a beautiful deep golden liquid highlighter that was on sale. ^-^
NIP+FAB Contour Palette
For a while now I’ve found that when it comes to powder makeup, having a variety of shades to choose from is one of the best things anyone can do since no face is simply one tone. I like to use contour palettes to lightly set my makeup, contour and brighten my under eyes.
One thing I absolutely love about the packaging is that the lid is see through! It really helps me a lot on days when I’m in a rush because then I know exactly which product to reach for – a small, but very useful feature. I also like how compact this product is, I didn’t realise just how petite this palette really was until it came in the mail, but it’s actually perfect to travel with. It’s lightweight and slim enough to fit into almost any bag/compartment.
The palette comes with six powders: (from the top left) Tan, Chestnut, Cocoa, Sugar, Soft Honey and Sunset.
All shades apart from Sugar are matte. Sugar has some iridescent sparkles in the pan – like a very understated highlighter. I like to mix this shade with Tan and Soft Honey when I want to brighten my under eyes just a bit – it works perfectly fine without looking glittery.
I did find that some of the shades in this palette were quite similar in tone. But nonetheless, I like having a variety of options to set, contour, blush and even apply as eyeshadow. I also like to use Chestnut and Soft Honey to set the face sometimes.
The contour shade, Cocoa has the perfect undertone without looking muddy – I also like to mix Cocoa and Sunset (the orange shade) together to bronze the skin on days when I really want to achieve that sun-kissed look!
When my Nip+Fab package came in the mail, the first thing I was adamant about doing was to check out the shades in the palette (unaware of its pigmentation). and let me tell you, these powders are full of pigment. These aren’t powdered foundations in any way, but I’d still say it gives medium to full coverage as you can really build it up if you wanted to, or sheer it down depending on the type of brush you use.
When you apply these powders, you will face some simple fall out, however, the texture of these powders make up for all of that. It’s so buttery in texture it’s unreal, its almost like you can’t mess up only because you have full control of how you apply it and how much of the product you need. All that I’d suggest when applying, is to use a light hand as you blend.
The finish of these powders are definitely matte, so I like to use a face mist right after setting the skin.
(Please excuse my watching skills… ^^)
It holds up pretty well compared to other powders that are actually meant for keeping the face matte. I’d totally depend on this for a long day.
I’d recommend this product to anyone who’s looking for a good face powder/contour palette. I find It best to have options of colours to choose from instead of having one face powder that likely ends up giving a flat finish. I’d go for a face palette over buying one face powder, this palette carries six colours and it’s only £15.
Now I will say although the price is a little high for a drugstore product, I’d still repurchase this product because of the quality, value and efficiency of the palette. Plus the pans last a fairly long time.
NIP+FAB Liquid Highlighter
It’s cute. But sometimes if not handled too gently, the product can get a little messy. There’s a lot of product in this small bottle, though it’s easy to clean so…
let’s just say, if I wanted to travel with this, I’d keep it in a small tightly sealed bag/pouch just to be safe. ^-^
It is stuniiiiing! Nip+Fab carry 3 different shades of this illuminator and I essentially went for this one (the darkest) because right went I clicked on it I could only imagine how beautiful this bronze Deep Gold shade would look for the summer. And I wasn’t wrong, it is indeed stunning.
Very pigmented. Like, so pigmented 😉 – but no, I’m actually serious, it is. You can, however, sheer it down if you wanted to so needn’t worry, this will not serve you the tin man look.
There are a number of ways to use/apply liquid illuminators, but the best method that I’ve found to apply this one, (for me that is) it to mix it in with foundations to either dilute the coverage or give them a glow. For instance, I like to just mix a dot of this product with my Fenty Beauty Foundation (in 440) to add a little glow as well as to soften the texture of the foundation because it’s very matte – I find that mixing this with matte foundations gives a really nice balance.
You could also use this as a primer, or dot this on the highest points of the face to create a glow.
I prefer liquid or cream based highlighters/illuminators as the finish results in a more natural texture, whilst some highlighting powders tend to look artificial. But then again, it all depends on the type of look you’re going for.
I haven’t really paid no mind to its lasting effect, though I will say that this product does set once left on the skin. Also, if you mix this in with your foundation it’ll last for as long as your foundation lasts without altering it’s staying power.
I’m not going to say that this product is a necessity, because it isn’t. However, I think that if you have any summer, beachy, bronzy, glowy makeup looks in mind then this is a perfectly small makeup essential to add to your collection – enabling you to go all out with your glowing goddess embodiment.
I love how small this is, it carries 15ml of product which in my eyes, is a lot because a little goes a very long way. Trust me. Anyways, I love this product and I will be using it all throughout this summer. ^-^
So if you’re also a lover of Liquid Gold, I’d highly recommend this liquid illuminator to you. 😊
