Makeup EDIT|’60s Eye Look (BLOGMAS: Day 3)

This Makeup Edit is inspired by a Jean Shrimpton Photograph, Shot by Bern Stern for Vogue in 1965. Out of all makeup looks/trends, the most influential decade of Makeup had to be the 60s. For the past couple of years, I’ve found a tradition of having a 60s/70s inspired makeup look for every New Year’s Eve. I’m not sure why that is exactly but 60s Makeup is by far my most favourite look to recreate, just so happens that I actually dedicate time to do it only when leaping into the new year – for fun!

This year I thought I’d share this look in particular. Black, structured smokey eye with a sharp layered wing on top – emphasized by the white liner for a 3D effect. I LOVE it.

Here’s my 2017 version of Jean Shrimpton’s ICONIC look!

SKIN:

Because this look is 60s inspired, you pretty much have all the excuses to make the skin extra matte if that’s your style, if not your everyday base makeup or full coverage foundation routine is a perfect base to start with.

Foundation: L’Oréal true match + Fashion Fair Mousse Foundation (high coverage)

Concealer: MAC select cover up

Powder: RCMA No Color Powder

Bronzer/Contour: Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick

EYES:

  1. Start with a black cream shadow or even a gel liner and blend it onto primed eyelids only on the lids with a fluffy brush
  2. Set the base with a cool toned matte grey/kohl shadow and blend slightly upwards
  3. Go over with a liquid or gel-based liner (whichever is easier for you) and line your lids preferably drawing upwards for a lifting and sharp effect
  4. Clean up where needed with a small concealer brush and your concealer for a clean finish
  5. Go over those areas with a white cream pencil and define your eyes under the lash line
  6. Analyse both eyes and add more liner to where you think you need it
  7. Complete the Eyes with a good few coats of mascara or even false lashes for a dramatic vibe

The great thing about this eye look is that you can achieve it with 3 products

  • black liner/pot
  • complementing eyeshadow
  • white eye pencil

I will be honest, it does take time however the process is fun so hey ho 🙂

LIPS:

  • Nude/Brownish or Nude/Pink lipstick of your choice
  • Dab a touch of concealer on the centre of your lips
  • Line the lips for definition

Thanks for stopping by The Belper!

Lots of love,
