Makeup EDIT: The Purple Look

This editorial is inspired by an eyeshadow look I saw on Shalom Harlow when interviewed by Tim Blanks, click here to see Shalom Harlow’s makeup in her interview. From the moment I saw her eye look, I just knew I had to recreate my own spin on these colours!

I couldn’t pin down exactly when this interview was, let alone the artist who created Shalom’s look. But to me this screams 90s Glam! The purple is the star of the show. A unique yet underestimated colour for eyeshadow, dark and bold at the same time. Simple, yet different!

I think this look is perfect for the Autumn/Winter months. Quite unexpected, as this look requires no transition shades or rather no orange tones at all but just built gradients of PURPLE.

I modernised the eyes a little, by thinning the wing out as thin a possible (lol) this method makes almost any eyeshadow look wearable – try it!

Products Used:

EYES- Look, ANY shade of purple blush or eyeshadow you can find is perfect. I literally looked around and found different shades of purple I wouldn’t necessarily reach for in my kit just waiting for this look. It’s all about that gradient effect, really starting at the root of the lashes with the darkest purple you own and blending upwards as you go with lighter versions of it.

The Darkest Purple Eyeshadow I had: By STILA

Lid ‘topper’ shades: “Delirious”, “Scratch” and a bit of “Faded” from the URBAN DECAY Full Spectrum Palette

Topped with Liquid Liner + My all time fave E.L.F Mascara

SKIN- Believe it or not, I did not ‘highlight’ the centre parts of my face at all. In fact, I mixed a skin toned concealer (for coverage) and diluted it with a touch of my foundation. This gives a more ‘I’m not trying’ look to the face and I just loved how well it worked with the eyes.

LIPS- A touch of concealer, blended in + a layer of my favourite orange gloss from SHISEIDO on the centre of my lips to add warmth – less is more in this case.

Please let me know in the comments what you think! And would you try this Purple Hued 90s Glam makeup look? 👀

Thank you so much for stopping by The Belper!

Lots of love,
